Exchange Server 2010 - questions related to one server for multiple companies/subsidiaries, same staff
Hi, I have a similar situation to the scenario posted in this topic a couple years ago: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/exchangesvrgeneral/thread/C4D27DCB-97FE-462E-9254-FFE093DBC851 In other words, multiple companies that are subsidiaries, with staff who have accounts for each company. Right now we don't use Exchange Server, but are considering moving to it. Important capabilities include: Each user must be able to have email accounts in each subsidiary's domain (e.g., user@domain1.com, user@domain2.com, etc.) -- single inbox preferred but not required Each user must be able to select which email account (i.e., which subsidiary) they're sending from when creating a new message Contact list and calendar tied to the user, not to the subsidiary (i.e., each user should only have one contact list & calendar, not a separate one for each email account/subsidiary) Are these objectives possible with Exchange Server 2010? If so, how would the server need to be configured? Thanks for your help. -Chris

Hi, As far as I understand what you want to accomplish is that each user can have more than one e-mail address and have the option of sending from each one as well. If there is no demand on addresslist seggregation you can setup Exchange in the standard way adding several authoritative domains and giving each user the e-mail addresses they need. To send from different addresses you need to add "extra" accounts to the Outlook profile. The extra accounts are just pop3 accounts that are used for the send funktion since Exchange normally only sends from the default address of each user. /MartinExchange is a passion not just a collaboration software.

Thanks for the reply, Martin. Yes, that sounds like what I'm trying to accomplish. Is this capability new to Exchange 2010 or does it also exist in 2007? Best, Chris
