Exchange Server 2007 with Outlook Anywhere feature enabled and TS Gateway on the same server
Has anyone gotten this to work in any way?

Matt,As you may already know, there are 5 server roles in Exchange Server 2007. I have provided a list of the 5 roles below. To get you must install rpc over http on the Client Access Server: Install a valid Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate from a trusted certification authority (CA) that the client trusts. Install the WindowsRPC over HTTP Proxy component. Enable Outlook Anywhere on a computer that has the ExchangeServer2007Client Access server role installed. Publish it using ISA server or a 3rd party firewall. You would have to install the Exchange Server 2007 Client Access Role on your TS Gateway. It should work just fine but I would'nt recommend it. Overview of Outlook Anywhere: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123741(EXCHG.80).aspxHow to Enable Outlook Anywhere: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123889(EXCHG.80).aspx Hub Transport (HT): The server role is responsible for message routing and must be a member of the domain. The HT role manages messages by routing them to the next Hub Transport server, Edge Transport server, or Mailbox server. In Exchange 2007, the HT uses Active Directory site information to determine the mail flow, not routing groups which were used in Exchange 2003. The HT handles all messages that pass through an organization. There must be at least 1 HT in each Active Directory Site. Client Access (CA): The Client Access server role allows connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Mailbox stores from a variety from protocols. CA role enables user to access their mailbox via an Internet browser (OWA), mobile devices (ActiveSync), and Mail client applications (Post Office Protocol / Internet Message Access Protocol). There must be at least 1 CA in each Active Directory Site that has a Mailbox server installed and must be a member of the domain. Mailbox (MB): The Mailbox server role is responsible for managing / hosting mailbox and public folder databases. Be aware that there is a separate portion of this role called Clustered Mailbox role, for use with high-availability clustering of mailbox database. If you decide to select a Clustered Mailbox role, other Exchange 2007 server roles cannot be combined / installed on the same physical server. The mailbox server requires AD access so it must be a member of the domain. Unified Message (UM): The Unified Messaging role provides end users to access to their mailbox, address book, and calendar using a telephone and voice. It allows you to treat voice & fax messages like e-mail messages. IP-PBX or VoIP gateway needs to be installed and configured to facilitate much of the functionality of this server role. Edge Transport (ET): The ET is applied to be the Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) gateway server between your intranet and the internet. The last hop of outgoing mail and first hop of incoming mail, acting as a smart host and should be deployed in a perimeter network, Edge Transport provides antivirus control (by using 3rd party software), mail quarantine and SMTP service to enhance security. One advantage of this role is that is does not require Active Directory access, it uses Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) to access recipient information. This allows the ET server role to function with limited access to the internal network for increased security. Cheers, Juan B. Giusti [MCTS]

While the installation of the ts gateway role and enabling Outlook Anywhere install without conflict. When the two features are used at the same time it prevents authorization from working until the server is rebooted. Ex. User1 uses TS Gateway to access a terminal server. User2, while User1 is using TS Gateway, launches outlook and attempts connection to Exchange via RPC over HTTPS. User2 gets continuous prompts for password no matter what and any future logon attempts to the ts gateway fail including if user1 gets disconnected and attempts to reconnect. Until the server is restarted. Now if the features are used seperatly but not concurrently things seem to work fine, Ex User1 and User2 use ts gateway to launch outlook on terminal server or User1 and User2 use Outlook Anywhere while not using TS Gateway.
