Exchange Server 2007 IMAP and SMTP
I am new to this forum. Not sure this is right place to ask the following question:We have installed SharePoint 2007 and it needs SMTP Server to send emails. Our exchange server 2007 is using IMAP. Any idea how to enable SMTP traffic?

Hi,Your Exchange server may be using IMAP for clients, but it will also be using SMTP for internet delivery and reception of e-mail. If your e-mail server works for external e-mail, you will also be able to use it for Sharepoint to send e-mail.In Sharepoint, use the IP (or internal FQDN) of your exchange server for the outbound smtp server and make the from address anything@yourdomain.com.

Are you using an Edge Transport server with Exchange? Also, if you look in organization/hub transport & Server/hub transport, can you see send and receive connectors - are they enabled? On the Sharepoint server, do you have any AV software that could be blocking port 25?

Hi Malik,You need to create a new SMTP connector also on Exchange server to relay off emails anonymously from SharePoint application.Allowing application servers to relay off Exchange Server 2007http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/12/28/432013.aspxAmit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com
