Exchange Server 2007: Calendar Invite Forwarding
Hi Everyone, Is there a "simple" way to configure Exchange server to allow client based rules to automatically forward meeting invites external to the server, but prohibit the auto forwarding of mail ? TIA Simon simongphillips@gmail.com

Company currently has Server option "Allow automatic Forward" unchecked for all mailboxes. You can configure a client based rule to foward calendar invites, but the server will override. What we are seeking to do is allow the server to forward calendar invites but prohibit users from running rules that allow all emails to be auto forwarded to an external address. Hope this clarifies SimonSimon Phillips

Not if you don't all auto-forwarding in the "Remote Domains". The auto-forwarding is a MAPI property that's set in the message by Outlook, and it's that property that's checked. There's no distinction made based on the class of the message. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Hi Rich, I am concerned that I have not explained the problem clearly enough. Is there an email address when I can send you a screen capture of the current setting in the company's email server. The goal is to change the server setting to allow emails to the server to be auto-forwarded to external addresses, ONLY if they are meeting invites. All other emails would need to be prohibited from being forwarded. Regards SimonSimon Phillips

You prohibit auto-forwarding of messages to remote domains and you want to override that prohibition for certain classes of messages. >The goal is to change the server setting to allow emails to the server to be auto-forwarded to external addresses, ONLY if they are meeting invites. All other emails would need to be prohibited from being forwarded. The answer is still the same. As long as the MAPI property on the message says it's an auto-forward the prohibition will stand. It doesn't matter what the message class might be. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
