Exchange Server - Update Rollup Method
Exchange Setup: We have AD 2003 & Exchange 2007 SP2 CAS & HUB together configured on single server. There are total of 2 servers per site. We have 2 sites. 1 Mailbox servers each site, configured in Cluster (SCC). Question: I see that the Update Rollup 1, 2, 3, & 4 are available for Exchange Server 2007 SP2. Can we directly install the Update Rollup 4, even when Update 1, 2, & 3 are not installed? Also, any best practice for update rollup installation? Particularly on SCC cluster mode?

Thank you..!! 1. Any best method for installing in the SCC cluster? 2. I belive I should first start with intenet facing CAS&Hub server. Correct?

yes, you should normally patch your internet facing CAS server(s) then your remaining CAS servers, then HUB(s), then your passive node, move resources over then your other node.Sukh

Upgrading to Exchange 2007 SP3 Rollup Consider the following conditions when you upgrade to Exchange 2007 SP3: If you install Exchange 2007 SP3 on a computer that is running the RTM version of Exchange 2007, all server roles are upgraded to Exchange 2007 SP3. You cannot choose which server roles you want to upgrade to Exchange 2007 SP3. If you want to add a server role to a computer after you upgrade to Exchange 2007 SP3, you must run the Exchange 2007 SP3 Setup program. This differs from the process that you must follow for earlier versions of Microsoft Exchange. For example, when you add a component to a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 installation, you must run the Exchange 2003 Setup program to change the installation, and then reapply the service pack. We recommend that you upgrade your servers that are running the Mailbox server role after you upgrade your servers that are running the server roles in the following list. Upgrade your computers in the following order: Client Access servers Unified Messaging servers Hub Transport servers Edge Transport servers Mailbox servers If you upgrade your servers in this order, you may avoid potential service interruptions. We recommend that you upgrade Client Access servers that reside on Internet-facing sites before you upgrade Client Access servers that reside on sites that do not have Internet connectivity. The procedure is the same for SP and UR Source: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607233%28EXCHG.80%29.aspx Jonas Andersson | Microsoft Community Contributor Award 2011 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog | Follow me on twitter: jonand82
