Exchange Sending not working after service restart
Hoping someone can help with our Exchange problem. We have Exchange 5.5 running in a Windows 2000 SP4 domain. There are 2 DCs in the domain.Until 3 weeks ago all was working without a hitch. Scenario: each night a batch file stops the Exchange ServicesSymantec Live State takes a snap shot for backupa batch file starts the Exchange services. All services start correctly. We can send mail outWe can't receive mail until we reboot the server. We get an error message now ERROR 36872No suitable default server credential exists on this system. This will prevent server applications that expect to make use of the system default credentials from accepting SSL connections. An example of such an application is the directory server. Applications that manage their own credentials, such as the internet information server, are not affected by this. This error appears only on the Exchange server. There are no other error messages appearing in the system around the same time as this.HELP!!! please.

Looks like a synchronicity problem. Assuming that you do the same backup trick for the DC's every night, perhaps the batch file for starting the exchange services runs a bit too soon (the DC's not restarted yet). Exchange 5.5 isby now 7 or 8 years out of production. That it runs at all is just amazing. Just out of curiosity: how old is the hardware you are using?
