Exchange Recipient Admin and Granting Full Mailbox Access
Is there a way to grant Exchange Recipient Administrators the right to grant full mailbox access to another user? I don't want to make our remote admins Exchange Server Administrators since they don't need to create databases, delete connectors, etc. Is there a good document outlining the minimum permissions required for Exchange 2007 management tasks? Likewise, can anyone think of other actions our remote admins might need to perform that the Recipient Administrator role would not cover. Thanks, Robert

Hi RTEAL, To grant full mailbox access to another user(or run the cmdlet Add-MailboxPermission), "the account you use must be delegated, at minimum, the following on the server where the mailbox resides: Exchange Server Administrator or Exchange Organization Administrator" Add-MailboxPermission http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124097(EXCHG.80).aspx I think it can be done via modify ACL for Exchange Recipient Administrator account. But it is complicated. If you concern the minimum permission mode, I would suggest you upgrade to Exchange 2010 with new permission mode: Understanding Role Based Access Control http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd298183.aspxPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
