Exchange Password Recovery
My company has an Exchange email address assigned to several copiers, for the scan-to-email function. Unfortunately, the password for the account was never written down, and no one in IT knows it.Is there any way I can recover this password? I don't want to change or reset it, since nothing has been logged about which copiers are using the account. I'm a domain admin, so I have physcial access to the Exchange server and the Domain Controller. The environment is Exchange 2007 on Windows Server 2003, and any help is appreciated.

There is not.The only thing I can think of is if the copiers are using plain text SMTP (port 25 with no TLS). If this is the case, get WireShark going on one of the hub transport servers that the copiers use and filter the view to just traffic from one of the copiers. Run a scan to email and you'll see the password in plain text there.Active Directory, 4th Edition - www.briandesmond.com/ad4/
