Exchange On SBS
My company is in the process of taking over the assets of another company. The users of the acquired company are required to use the parent company's email via OWA while retaining their current email for a while. I set up contacts for each user with their new email address and set up their current email to forward to their new email address. This has been working great for two weeks now but all of a sudden it is not working correctly all the time. The problem that I see is that when some emails to their original account the forward gets stuck in the outgoing Exchange queue for a while then goes out. I have tested the email process with smtp diag and it runs fine. Why would the emails get stuck in the queue for so long? Thanks.

Thanks for the info but its not an Exchange 2007 server. What I have is a 2003 Small Business server thats at the company we aquired and I have an Exchange Cluster at the parent company. The users at the new company have email enabled accounts at the parent company site. I have set up contacts on the new company's email server to forward incoming email to their email account at the parent company. So if some one sends email to newcompany@xyz.com it will automatically forward a copy to parentcompany@abc.com.

Hi, Please check which queue the message stuck. You can also refer to following article to troubleshoot the issue: How to use Queue Viewer to troubleshoot mail flow issues in Exchange Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823489 I also suggest you enable Message Tracking the SBS server and check which phase the message stuck.
