Is there a way of moving mailstores/mailboxes from Zarafa to Exchange 2010 without having to resort to exporting to pst & importing again ?

Hi Is Zarafa based on POP / IMAP? If yes, then you can use Transport Suite, but only for Exchange 2007...Jonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog

Will Exchange 2010 support Transport Suite & how would this work as ideally i'd like to keep disruption to an absolute minimum ?

We have a rather large email database (about 200 GB) - this is in a production environment. Obviously there are issues reconfiguring 175 clients and a time issue physically performing the migration on that amount of data - is it possible for both servers to co-exist for a while whilst the mailboxes synchronise ? If we begin moving the data say on a Friday evening - assuming all goes well and the transfer is completed by Monday morning (i doubt it would be that fast) what happens to any mails that have been delivered in the interviening time ? if we re-run the migration will it only pickup changes eg the newly delivered messages ?

Hello, Exchange 2010 does not have any method to directly migrate mail from Zarafa. Unfortunately we do not have any plans to provide any tools that will allow for a Direct Migration to 2010. From Zarafa's web site it does appear that they do have an IMAP Gateway Component to their email system. If you have not deployed Exchange 2010 yet you can install Exchange 2007 first and then install 2010 afterwards, and as mentioned, use the Exchange 2007 Transporter Suite to migrate the mailboxes using the IMAP Migration Wizard first to Exchange 2007, and then move the mailboxes to 2010. If you have already installed 2010 then your only options will be to use Outlook to export to PST file and then import the mail into the mailbox through Outlook. (If the PST files match the alias of the 2010 mailbox, you can use the importrequest cmdlet) Thanks Kevin Ca - MSFT
