Exchange Management Console only connects to one server
Hello, I initially had one Exchange server running 2010 SP1 RU 5 that was working fine, Exchange1. I recetnly added two additional servers (Exchange2, and Exchange3), created a DAG and moved all of the databases over to the new servers. I'm currently in the process of making sure I'm ready to get rid of the initial exchange server. One strange thing I have noticed is that when I am using the EMC to connect, I only connect to Exchange1. If I select properties and go to the option to specificy the server to connect to for remote PowersShell a couple of things happen: If I select Connect to the automatically selected server and say apply, it goes right back to specifiy a server to coneect to pointed at exchange1. If I select Browse none of the other servers are shown to choose, 0 objects are found. If I then logon to the console of exchange2 or 3 and launch the EMC it connects to that server, and then if I click browse I again can't see any of the other servers. I've looked around online and haven't found an answer for anything that I can change to fix this. Please let me know if there is anything you would like me to try, or more information that would be helpful. Thank you, Eric

Is IIS installed on the other servers? Is the PowerShell virtual directory present under the Default Web Site? Is the WWW service running and the Default Web Site up? Is the Is the Windows Firewall turned off or are ports 80, 443 and 5895 open? Is the Windows Remote Management (WS-Management) service running?Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

IIS is intalled on all of the servers. PowerShell Virtual Directory does exist. WWW Service is running, Default Web Site is up. Firewall has ports 80, 443 are open, I don't see 5895 on the server that is working or not working. Windows Remote Management is running. I can use EMC on all of the individual servers and they will connect to themselves, it is only if I want to point the EMC at a different server that I can't see the other servers. Thanks, Eric

That all points to a firewall problem, I think. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa384372(v=vs.85).aspx You can try turning off the Windows Firewall, if for a short time just to test, and see if the problem goes away. Hello, I just tried turning off the firewall, and still see the same problem. That was between two of the servers so that there was no hardware Firewall in the way. I also tried using $Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri http://ServerName/PowerShell/ -Authentication Kerberos That allows me to connect to each individual server from my machine. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that means that the remoting and firewall settings should be ok, it seems like whatever the EMC is using to find the servers is broken. Thanks for the help, Eric

Sorry, I can't reproduce your issue in my own lab; "Browse" results in all servers being listed.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Hi One similar bug is fixed in exchange 2010 Sp1 RU6. You can update your exchange version. An empty list returns when you try to use the EMC to specify a server to connect to in an Exchange Server 2010 SP1 environment Terence Yu TechNet Community Support

I will need to make time to perform this update without affecting anyone, I will let you know the result as soon as I can, I'm not sure if I will be able to do it this week or it may have to wait until next week. Thanks, Eric
