Exchange Installation placed OWA within an already inhabited virtual dir. OWA not working.
Hello all,I installed Exchange 2007 on a W2K8 server. The server already had IIS running and a few sites already setup. One of the sites (not the default) had SSL setup and that is the site that Exchange chose to install OWA. So then the site didnt work any longer and we had to move the site into a new. Now when I attempt to access OWA I get ... Outlook Web Access did not initialize. An event has been logged so that the system administrator can resolve the issue. Please contact technical support for your organization. Outlook Web Access was unable to access the Active Directory configuration settings for virtual directory "owa" under Web site "Exchange". The TechNet page says to do this: User Action To resolve this error, follow one of these steps: Rename the Web site back to its original name. Restore Internet Information Services (IIS) metabase configuration settings from backup.Problem is, I dont know what the original name would be because it didnt create a new site it used an existing one as I explained above. Please help...

Hi, Try the following: Remove-OwaVirtualDirectory "owa (default web site)" New-OwaVirtualDirectory -name "owa" -OwaVersion Exchange2007 -WebSiteName "Default Web Site"That process will delete your OWA virtuall Directory and then recreate it. the name of the virutal directory is owa (default web site)You can also do a Get-OwaVirtualDirectory to list the name if you happened to change it.BP
