Exchange Full backup not truncating the Transaction log files ?
Hi All, Can anyone assist me here please ? I've migrated my Exchange Server 2007 SP1 - CCR one of the mailbox DB transaction log into separate new drive but somehow after the full backup it is not truncating the log file ? At the moment the size is still big ~ 30 GB in size, therefore I cannot move back the transaction log from the new temp drive into the old proper drive ? Thanks./* Server Support Specialist */

Because at the moment the database is mounted successfully but the CR replication status / storage group copy shown as FAILED in the Exchange Management Console. Do I need to create another / similar drive letter / name in the DR node to make sure the CCR replication is healthy again for the backup to truncate the log file size successfully ?/* Server Support Specialist */

I have always made the two servers in a CCR identical in drive structure. That may well be why things aren't working correctly. Any reason you are on Exchange 2007 SP1 - which is no longer supported? You should be on Exchange 2007 SP3 to be supported (preferably with the latest rollup). Simon. Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

Hi, Do you have CCR+SCR? What is the application that you use to backup Exchange? Please try to run ExBPA and then post the log information here. Also please check event log and then post the detail error event informaiton here for further troubleshootings. Thanks for the advice, you are right the Mailbox Server drive letters and structure must be the same in both sites, so the replication needs to happens first before the Backup able to truncate / commit the log. The reason is simple, if it works don't touch it. I've heard enough "horror" stories after upgrading the Exchange Server SP. :-//* Server Support Specialist */
