Exchange FQDNname has changed, we want an automatic reply message for mail on the old domainname
Hi, Our FQDN name haschanged to an different domain name example abc.com is changes in xyz.com We noticed that a lot of our clientsstill sends theirmail to the wrong domainname (example abc.com). That is why wewant exchange to automaticaly send a custom message to those who are still using the wrong abc.com name so we cab notify them that our domainname has changed. Is this possible in SBS 2003 R2 exchange??? ExchangeSP2 installed!! If so, how could this be done. Thanks in advance and kind regards, Johan Sneek The Netherlands

Hi, Unfortunately there is no such feature in exchange 2003. You could get the users to add signatures explaining that the domain name has changed, but in most cases it is not necessary, The users contacts reply to new mails sent out from your server and if yoyu use the new domain name as sender addresses they will learn after a couple of months/years. Without a third party tool, the only way I can think to do this, and it would need tested, is to have the CLIENTS setup a rule in Outlook. Check Messages when they arrive With Specific words in the recipeient's address Reply using a specific template. You would have to use your old domain name as the specific words, and create a template to use on each system. It would be better if you could have the server reply so it would work when the Outlook client is not running, but I think the Specific words is a local rule. Pain in the A$$, but I think it might work. If you are talking 20 people, or if you don't have to do the work yourself (Helpdesk), it wouldn't be that bad. I see you are talking about an SBS server, so I am guessing we are not talking about thousands of people..

Hi, I think we found a solutuion too. We are going to keep the old domain name on the server with only one email account. With this account we wil configure all the old email adresses as aliasses Then we switch on the outlook out-of-office assitent with a custom message to inform all the customers with the changes. Maybe this senario will work? We going to test this senario today! Thanks for all the help Appriciated! JPGM Sneek
