Hi, Can you try to restart the Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service and VSS service as well. 2nd try to look for whitespace OR the search index (for each DB) that might be keeps growing and consuming the space . Download and install Treesize application on your server. Everytime your disks goes low on space run treesize and it will help you find out which file/folder is occupying largest space. you can troubleshoot this issue accordingly. If you wish to reclaim the whitespace in the db, will suggest the best way forward is to move all content to a new database and drop the original one. Thanks

Hi, That folder holds lots of stuff, none of related to Exchange. Distributed Link Tracking Service databases for repairing your shortcuts and linked documents. Content Indexing Service databases for fast file searches. Information used by the Volume Snapshot Service (also known as "Volume Shadow Copy") so you can back up files on a live system. however, you can limit the the disk space consumption. open your system properties, click the system restore tab and use the slider. furthermore, system restore is only required for drives holding your operating system and/or programs, you might as well disable system restore on storage partitions altogether. And, by the way, reducing the size of the system_volume_information file will reduce the number of available restore points...You'll have to decide how to balance that factor. Thanks

Backup is running fine and it flushing the log files also. The exchange databse is having no changein its size. The D drive (exchange driver) available space showing is the amazing figure but if you go inside the drive and select allitems including th hidden and check for the properties then it is correct. The current situation is as follows :- Total size of items in D drive is 297 GB (Calculated by selecting all items including hidden files .. right click .... properties ) The used space showing in the My Computer for D drive ... is 396 GB. This seems to be quite amazing.... I fear something like snapshot backup copy but there is nothing I configured in this server. Also there is one thing information which will be helpful.... Last week one of the log file not getting flushed .. it was locked bu the system process. I did a restart of the machine and all logs flushed after the backup. I believe this start from their ownwards.. Please check if this will help to find the solution.. thanks

Dear ALL I had 2 mailbox servers (Active and Passive) in my Clustered environment. Now the active mailbox server's Exchange drive space is showing less availabel space. That is, the content of Exchange (D) drive is around 295 GB including the mailbox database, log files, catalogs etc. Total size of disk is 550 GB. So normally available space should be 255 GB but its showing only 190 GB, that is a difference of 65 GB and this difference is keep on growing. When I first found this difference was 25 GB andf each day this difference is growing even though the actual content is 295 GB which is somewhat same after each backup. I need to say that all backup is working fine and it is flushing all log files correctly. I dont know whether a restart of the server will help. I really appreciate a reply from you people.

can you check if the time you run backups conflict with the time online maintenance start? online maintenance will not run if backups are running at the same time which means it will not free up space on the disk.

hi, Do you view the hidden files. >>>When I first found this difference was 25 GB andf each day this difference is growing even though the actual content is 295 GB which is somewhat same after each backup. My understand is that the difference is reduced after you do a backup, and it close to normal. If it is right, I think that you should have some hidden log files or some hidden files. If not, please tell me more about your issue. hope can help you thanks,CastinLu TechNet Community Support

thanks guys .. atleast I found out where it consumed. it is the System Volume information which consumed the whole difference. I hope its part of system restore .. that is any one of Volume shadow copy or MS shadow copy provider might have done this as both this service is in started state. Now i need to know how I can get rid off this accumulated files in System volume information and stop this volume snapshot thanks
