Exchange Discovery
Hello I'm hoping someone here can help me with the following query: I wanted to check that the Discovery element of Exchange was working, so I've read the MS articles and watched the videos. However, even though I've enabled my account to perform Discovery, it still doesn't show up when I log in to OWA, as per the video. http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/en-us/email-archiving-and-retention.aspx I logged in with the Admin account by going to the Toolbox --> Role Based Access Control, and from here I can see Discovery. I managed to perform a Search, and it returned 14 results, but when I try to open the results, I get an error : "You don't have permission to open this mailbox". 1) Why, when I've granted myself Discovery Permissions (using the EMS) does the option to search mailboxes not appear when I log in to OWA. 2) Why am I getting the permssion error when I try to view results. Google hasn't yielded any results, so I'm hoping someone here might know the answer. :) Many thanks in advance for any help or guidance anyone can provide. BrianLive Long and Prosper

Hi, From your description, this issue is due to permission. Be default, the Discovery Management role group doesn't have any members. Administrators with the Organization Management role are also unable to create or manage discovery searches without being added to the Discovery Management role group. So you can add administrator to the discovery management role group, which you can refer to the article ‘Add a User to the Discovery Management Role Group’. Hope this helps. ThanksSophia Xu

* Go to the Active directory Users and computer and Navigate to Microsoft Exchange Security objects * Right side pane, Right click on DIscovery management , go to the properties and check the members [tab] * we have to ensure that Admin account should be added * Go to the dicovery search mailbox 's full access permission and check the admin account has been added or not Thanks Joseph Pradeep =========================================================== If you found this post helpful, please give it a "Helpful" vote.
