Hello, What I have?I am trying to setup a test lab, i have two systems (Dell Optiplex 755, Core 2 Duo, 1.8GHz, 4GB RAM, 250GB HDD), i have installed 2 Virtual Servers on each system, a fairly good internet connection, a registered domain name with DNS services working (MX records already set)What I want to Achieve?I want one of the servers acting as an Internet Mail server (mail.yemibee.com - 88.98.1.1), receiving mails from the internet meant for clients within the domain and routing the mails to the required users. Next i want two servers acting as local client access servers (mail.sag.yemibee.local - 192.168.1.3 and mail.lag.yemibee.local - 192.168.1.4), these ".local" servers would be deployed locally and would be configured to send and receive mails within the .local domain but when a client needs to send a mail externally they should be able to route it to the internet mail server (mail.yemibee.com)Hope?The big question is - Is this configuration feasible? If yes, how do i go about this. Like i said, i have all neccessary domains registered and Active directory for the .local domain up and running.Thanks alot

Hi Arun,Thanks for the hint. Im using Exchange 2007 on Windows Server 2003. I havent configured a bridge head yet, im still checking out the design and want to know the right steps to go about getting the required results.Thanks again.

You're going to need at least three server typs for Exchange 2007. A mailbox server, a client access server and a hub transport server.The hub transport server is responsible for routing mail. If you have a smart host you will configure a Send Connector (http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/11/17/431555.aspx) that will include the smart host. Otherwise you can rely on external DNS.The receive connector on the Hub Transport Server will be set to accept connections from everywhere so yo ucan receieve email already.Hope this helps.BP

Yes, you will at least install three server roles as Bardapony said.
