Exchange AutoDiscover Problem

I have tried to set up autodiscover using the SRV record, but my users still get prompts for autodiscover. I have tried setting the internal URL. When I try to do Test-OutlookWebservices, autodiscover fails with "The underlying connection was closed". Please help! Thanks.

Can you post the out of Test-OutlookWebServices like this:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrgeneral/thread/d631cbe7-ae47-49c0-be2c-7e4e98a40850That may facilitate finding a solution. Also: what version of Exchange, client OS version and version of Outlook (2007 I imagine)?

You don't set an InternalURL for Autodiscover. For domain joined users who are internal to the network and have access to AD, you set the AutodiscoverServiceInternalURI so these clients can contact AD for the SCP record which contains the HTTP URL to contact a CAS Server for Autodiscover Service. For internal non-domain joined clients or users external to the network who don't have AD access, they first try the SRV record, and if that fails, they go the https://domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml followed by https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml. You can learn more about autodiscover here: http://www.shudnow.net/2008/11/18/autodiscover-dns-certificates-and-what-you-need-to-know/MVP | MCSE:M | MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator | MCTS: OCS + Voice Specialization | http://www.shudnow.net

I think the order is wrong (SRV last, not first). There are also clients that don't support the DNS SRV lookup method in order to locate the Exchange 2007 Autodiscover service. The Autodiscover service is contacted in the following order:
(1) https://domain.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml.(2) https://autodiscover.domain.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml.(3) http://autodiscover.domain.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml(4) DNS SRV lookup for _autodiscover._tcp.domain.com
A new feature is available that enables Outlook 2007 to use DNS Service Location (SRV) records to locate the Exchange Autodiscover servicehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/940881

Hello,I was wondering in Exchange 2010, is it possible to change the order or remove the https://domain.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xmlfrom being the first entry that is hit? Thanks,Brandon

You could ask in the Exchange 2010 forum.http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchange2010/threadsHowever, I would doubt it. The order is more determined by the client. It's what the client does. That's also what the the Exchange Remote Connectivity Analyzer does, in that order:https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/And not all clients do step four. Outlook 2007 RTM required a hotfix, later a rollup. Windows Mobile does not handle SRV records, neither does the iPhone.
