Exchange Archive Management

Hi,

I'm migrating an Exchange 2003 installation to Exchange 2013 (2003->2010->2013). This installation has an external archiving solution that I will integrate in Exchange 2013. But the client need to know somethings about the archiving solution from Exchange 2013.

1 - As an IT administrator, it is possible to search in archive for all emails arrived in a specific day to a specific mailbox? The emails are all already archived.

2 - Does Exchange 2013 has a specific console for archive management?

Thanks for all.

Hi,

1. There is a functionality called In-Place eDiscovery related to In-Place Archives. When a discovery manager performs an In-Place eDiscovery search, users' archive mailboxes are also searched. To perform In-place eDiscovery, please refer to this document

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd298021%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396#using

Or we can use New-MailboxSearch cmdlet to search mailbox. If we use this cmdlet on an Exchange 2013 server to create a mailbox search, mailboxes on previous versions of Exchange aren't searched. We must search mailboxes on Exchange Server 2010 by running the command on an Exchange 2010 server.

2. No. There isnt a specific console for archive management. In Exchange 2013, we use EAC and Shell to manage archive mailboxes.

Best Regards.
