Exchange ActiveSynch Mailbox Policy
Please can you explain to whom does this policy apply, it does not have to do with Outlook clients on their laptop or pcs right ?
So to whom does it apply ?

This is for phones connecting to Exchange via ActiveSync. This is not for mobile laptop users using Outlook. This is still MAPI/OA connection. Here is a good matrix on ActiveSync policies:

Does it apply if I connect a blackberry to synch with Outlook to synch mails, contacts etc...?

Blackberry does not use ActiveSync, if using a BES server it will utilize MAPI from the BES server to the Mailbox server.Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com

MAPI is the primary connectivity method for Exchange (along with smtp, pop, imap, etc). Not sure exactly what you are looking for, here are some generic links:

so when I compose a message and click send does Outlook send the message to Exchange or it is the other way round and exchange collects it from the Outlook client and delivers it. I would like to have a quick explanation of the path a message takes when
using Outlook with Exchange once I press the send button.
From what I understood MAPI is a communication software/protocol which allows software to communicate with Exchange ( MAPI Server )
Thank You

Regarding the Active synch policy I just checked and found out that each mobile device connected using active synch will get those policy settings applied.
thank you
