Exchange ActiveSync Integration Disabled
Exchange Server 2010 Standard SP1. We have setup an OWA Mailbox Policy. In that policy we disabled the Exchange ActiveSync Integration. That said, all users that are under this policy still see these options in the OWA "options-> Phone" area. Per the segmentation guide it says that disabling this will make the UI not visible to the users. This does not seem to be the case. Is there something I am missng?

The issue can be reproduced my exchange 2010 SP1 lab Please create a custom RBAC role to fix the issue, I have verified in my exchange 2010 SP1 lab 1. Create a new management role called MyBaseOptions_Custom. For now, this role is exactly the same as the original MyBaseOptions New-ManagementRole -Name MyBaseOptions_Custom -Parent MyBaseOptions 2. Remove ActiveSync related cmdlets from the new MyBaseOptions_Custom role Remove-ManagementRoleEntry MyBaseOptions_Custom\Clear-ActiveSyncDevice -Confirm: $false Remove-ManagementRoleEntry MyBaseOptions_Custom\Get-ActiveSyncDeviceStatistics -Confirm: $false Remove-ManagementRoleEntry MyBaseOptions_Custom\Get-ActiveSyncDevice -Confirm: $false Remove-ManagementRoleEntry MyBaseOptions_Custom\Remove-ActiveSyncDevice -Confirm: $false 3. By default, there is a default role assignment policy. My suggestion is not to touch it (in case you need to revert change back), so we are going to create a new one New-RoleAssignmentPolicy -Name "Custom Role Assignment Policy" 4. Finally, associate MyBaseOptions_Custom role and other default roles that are originally linked to the default role assignment policy to the new policy New-ManagementRoleAssignment -Name "MyBaseOptions_Custom-Custom Role Assignment Policy" -Role MyBaseOptions_Custom -Policy "Custom Role Assignment Policy" New-ManagementRoleAssignment -Name "MyVoiceMail-Custom Role Assignment Policy" -Role MyVoiceMail -Policy "Custom Role Assignment Policy" New-ManagementRoleAssignment -Name "MyDistributionGroupMembership-Custom Role Assignment Policy" -Role MyDistri butionGroupMembership -Policy "Custom Role Assignment Policy" New-ManagementRoleAssignment -Name "MyContactInformation-Custom Role Assignment Policy" -Role MyContactInformat ion -Policy "Custom Role Assignment Policy" Notes: You can set these roles more easier in ECP by go to “My Organization”->”Roles & Auditing”->”User Roles” 5. This step is optional. If you want all new users assigned to this new policy by default, you should set it to be the default Set-RoleAssignmentPolicy "Custom Role Assignment Policy" –IsDefault 6. If you want to assign the new policy manually for specific users, please use the cmdlet below Set-Mailbox JamesLuo -RoleAssignmentPolicy “Custom Role Assignment Policy” I’ll report this ActiveSync UI symptom to the relevant team, and post at here when I got further update James Luo TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
