Exchange 5.5 & FQDN
I have an Exchange 5.5 server running on a 2000 DC. A few days ago the server was blacklisted. The server is able to send emails to the outside but emails sent to any< validuser@domainname.com>bouncing. After sending some test emails to myself from within the organization and revieweing the message headers, it is sending the FQDN of the servername itself - . How would I go about changing the FQDN on the Exchange 5.5 server to reflect it to send - eg: smtp.domain.com rather than the actual servername.domainname.com. I have included the error results from the bounce back less pertinent information:
validuser = a valid-working email account on the exchange server
domainname.com = used in place of the actual domain name
The following addresses had delivery problems:
<validuser@domainname.com>
Permanent Failure: 550_5.1.1_<validuser@domainname.com..._User_unknown
Delivery last attempted at Tue, 9 Oct 2007 00:47:09 -0000
Any and all help would be appreciated

Your problem is that you have to remove your server from the blacklists.
I don't really know if you can change the FQDN in Exchange 5.5 but that does not change anything about the remote domains not accepting your server.
