Exchange 2013 setup with Hardware Load Balancer

Hi,

We are thinking of purchasing a hardware network load balancer for our Exchange servers

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj898588%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

We currently have two servers (both running as a client access server and a mailbox server) which are in a DAG, Mailboxes are shared between them over 8 databases. Is it possible to put a hardware based network load balancer (probably a Barracuda) in front of these servers?

I have read in the article below that using WNLB would not work in front of servers in a mailbox dag and that you would need to put the Client access role on a different server - but I wasn't sure if that just applied to the WNLB or any network load balancer such as a hardware based barracuda?

Thanks in advance

David

That applies only to the Windows Network Load Balancer.  Not only would I not recommend anyone use WNLB, but you cannot have the Windows Failover Cluster components exist on the same machine as the WNLB components.
