Exchange 2013 local and internet mail boxes.

Hello,

We have deployed exchange server 2013 under domain name, mydomain.com. The problem is that when we send a local  email to, lets say user@mydomain.com (internal mailbox) , the mail is routed through the internet. Is there a way to make the internal mails routed inside the LAN ?

Thank you.

How is the server configured that it's sent to the internet? The mail should go into Exchange server and then to the mailbox, all of which appears to be inside the network.

Can you kindly share the configuration of your infrastructure? If a user is sending an Internal email from LAN then it should not be routed through internet. Can you kindly share your infrastructure details please. thanks.

I have exchange 2013 installed in a Domain controller Win SRV 2008 R2 SP1. Now we have another problem :( we can no longer send internal emails :/ . We have configured an internal connector and left everything else in default. When we send internal mails, they leave the drafts folder but never delivered !!

You need to check the Exchange logs and see what happened to it. If you remove the internal connector, do the messages send?

Did you modify your default 2013 connectors? If yes then can you share the configuration on your default connectors? Also, kindly confirm on which server your connectors are enabled? CAS or MBX?

If all your default connectors are enabled, you might want to take a look at exchange 2013 DNS lookup options on the server. Try manually changing the internal dns lookup to any available local dns server.

Use below link for more information on changing the dns lookups.

So it was a DNS problem. When I type nslookup on the server I get an unknown as a response and an address like this :::1. The IPV6 was checked, so I unchecked it and tried again nslookup, I got a response localhost with ip address localhost. So I checked the IPV6 and opened its properties and checke 'automatic DNS' and when I nslookup again, I get a response from the server name with the right IP address. Thats how the problem was solved. Thank you for you Help :)
