Exchange 2013 cannot delete mails from a users Outlook or OWA profile

Hi all,

I am having a rather strange issue and am having issues figuring out why a users mailbox is doing this
The issue is that I have over 100 users in our organisation, however 1 user is having an issue emptying his deleted items folder.
If he does from either OWA or Outlook the files in the deleted items folder disappear then around 1 minute later they are all back again? No other user is having this issue it is just this user. I have tried to repair his mailbox and all results were successful however the issue still persists?

I am starting to think it may be easier to export to a .pst and recreate the whole user from AD up? However this would still not answer the question of why the mailbox is behaving like this? Any assistance would be great.

Enable auditing on the mailbox, see if it shows anything. Check if there are any mobile devices involved, or better yet disconnect every device, close Outlook as well and try to reproduce the issue with only OWA running.

Hi,

Along Vasils idea, please login OWA then remove all mobile device from Allow/Block/Quarantine list for testing.

Meanwhile, please run Search-Mailbox command with DeleteContent parameter to remove message, and test the results.

Hi Vasil,

I will give this a try and let you know if it resolves the issue the PC is used by a helpdesk agent in our NOC so I will need to schedule the time with the agent to try this. As soon as I have tried I will respond and mark if it solves the issue.

Any updates about this issue? You can block mobile device one by one for testing.
