Exchange 2013 Transport Rules - Send bounce message

Dear Forum Members!

We administered an old Exchange 2007 system where we had one transport rule which was used to "send bounce message to sender with enhanced status code" for those people who applied for a job at the company. Recently we transitioned to Exchange 2013, but when I try to create a transport rule for the exact same purpose I can't really find an action which I described. Is it possible that this action has been removed from Exchange 2013? If yes, are there any methods to do the same thing? Or I should create a mailbox instead of the distribution group and set an out of office message? :O

Thank you really for your help!

Best Regards,

Christian

Hi Christian,

Exchange 2013 has a similar transport rule action with Exchange 2007  "send bounce message to sender with enhanced status code" . For your reference:

Dear Amy!

Thank you for your help! Um, I saw this option, but in my opinion it also rejects the message. What I would like is to deliver the message to the job@company.com address, but also send and informational message back to the sender like "Thanks, we received your job apply!". Is this option good for this purpose? I'm afraid if I do this, then the mail won't be delivered to job@company.com, it will be just dropped with a custom message.

Thank you again!

Best Regards,

Christian

Hi Christian,

Yes, when you create the above transport rule in Exchange 2007 or Exchange 2013, sender's email won't be delivered to the recipient. In your case, you need to configure the automatic reply.

Hope this can be helpful to you.
