Exchange 2013 SP1 DAG - Move-TransportDatabase.ps1

Hi,

we have to move the queue database on an exchange 2013 SP1 DAG member due to disk space issue.

We used the following PS command:

.\Move-TransportDatabase.ps1 -queueDatabasePath 'G:\Queue' -queueDatabaseLoggingPath 'G:\QueueLogs'

Move went well, NTFS permissions are right, but after starting the Transport Service, it stops after several seconds.

if done that alot of times, but this is the first time on a DAG configuration. Is there something different to NON-DAG Deployments?

when i move the database back to the default folders, the service keeps running.

appreciate any hint!

Hello,

Please check the application log and let us know the detailed error message when the transport service failed to started after changing the queue database location.

Hi,

when you take a look on the Destinationfolder, does the Networkservice have right's on that Folder?
I do it serveral times also on a DAG Member but I do it like this:

1. Stop the MSTransportService
2. Move the Folder and set the permission
3. Update the  QueueDatabasePath and QueueDatabaseLoggingPath  in %ExchangeInstallPath%Bin\EdgeTransport.exe.config
4. Start the MSTransportService

That's it

Hi,

yeah, i've also done that several times with no problem.

Permissions are correct, Network Service, Local System and the local Admin group has Full Permission on the folder.

It doesn't matter if the partition is GPT or MBR formatet, right?

I'll try it again tomorrow, but the manual way.

In the eventlogs, there was nothing special, just like this:

The Microsoft Exchange Transport service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 1 time(s).  The following corrective action will be taken in 5000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
