Exchange 2013 RU9 fails

Hi

There must be something wrong with the Exchange 2013 CU9 installer. It keeps looking for files in a non-excisting directories. :-)

I have 5 servers at this customer. On the first it failed because it wanted the files at c:\CU9

On the second server it fails because it wants the files at c:\Temp\CU9

Why not take the files from where I execute the installer? :-)

As you can see it is only the UM role this happens for.

Hi Steenpedersen,

Please check the ExchangeSetupLogs for more error details.

The directories would be automatically deleted once setup is complete or failed hence, most likely you see then non-existant.

Download the Setup again to confirm that there is no issue with your installer.

Hi

Yes I just moved the source files to the path it tried and then ran the installer again.

I had no problem at any time, just wondering why the installer tries to run files from a wrong location :-)

Hi,

I'm glad to hear that you have resolved this issue.

By default, Exchange installation process will check update file,  and use relevant installation file to complete installation. You can check ExchangeSetup.Logs to get details of install process. Also, I find an article about your question, please refer to Case 3 Section: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff772434(v=exchg.80).aspx

Also, here's an blog about "Exchange 2007 setup logs and how to use them to troubleshoot setup": http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2007/05/07/3402250.as

Hi Steen,

Not quite sure why, as said download a fresh installer and check if you have the same issue with the remaining servers as well. May be you can drop a request to MS then.

Hope UAC is not effecting your setup. Also try the GUI installer.
