Exchange 2013 NDRs

Hi,

I would like to receive NDR's to tell people that an email address does not exist. This works internally but not externally, can anyone advise how to enable this?

Thanks

Dave

How about creating this kind of rule?

Hi,

Thanks for this, I have tried it but unfortunately it did't work.

I was just wondering though why is Exchange only configured to do it this way? Is there not a setting I can adjust to allow these sort of NDRs?

Thanks

Dave

Does get-remotedomain |FL *NDR* show that NDRs are enabled?

When I run the command both say "true" so I think NDR's are enabled yes.

Thanks

Is there any SMTP gateway between the Exchange Server and the internet?

So from a workstation, telnet on port 25 to the Exchange Server that receives messages from the internet and try to send a message to an invalid recipient and use a real FROM: address that you can acccess. What happens?

Your right we use a smart host to send emails out from Exchange. Our firewall is tied down to only send message to and from this smart host. But when I check this no NDR has hit this service so I can only assume it is not leaving the Exchange server?

Did you try the telnet test?

Just tried the telnet test and this is the result:

I didn't receive an NDR either.

Thanks
