Exchange 2013 IMAP-client cannot connect

Hello,

i am having a problem with imap-clints which cannot connect.

I have tried the options with and without SSL/TLS, but the outlook-clint is not accepting the password.

In the logfile on the exchange-server in the imap-log the following errors are available:

Extra info.

Outlook can now connect by imap with following format as username : domain/username/alias

Very strang, because username & alias are identical.

Why is this format needed? Can this be changed to domain/username?

Hi,

Please confirm whether the issue happens to all users or specific users to narrow down the issue .

Do you make any changes recently?

We can try to re-configure the problematic mailbox to test.

If it doesn't work, I suggest we can create a new mailbox and configure it ,then check if the issue persists on the new mailbox.

It seems i have fixed it by changing al user accounts UPN`s from .local to .com (the public domain-name).

Is this recommended in a exchange 2013 environment?

Happy to hear that you have fixed it.

Based on my knowledge, changing the User Principal Name has no disadvantage.

There was a change with Exchange 2013 CU9 to IMAP an  POP auth.

Thx for the blog!

Before that, i changed the useraccounts upn from .local to .nl

After this the acocunt could authenticate with only the username!
