Exchange 2013 Database not mounting after log files deleted

Hi,

I'm new to asking for help but not new to Server issues.

I have an exchange 2013 install running on server 2012 standard. It has been running fine from March, however after a really busy month the log files pushed the capacity on the HDD. The database dismounted and an over enthusiastic junior deleted the log files manually. (127GB of them)

in doing so he deleted everything except the database (61.7GB)

Now I cannot get the server to remount the database and give me access to my mailboxes.

Any help or ideas?

Danny

you would need to;

  1. Make a copy of the database so that you have a MASTER COPY that you can go back to, i.e. you will not run any MS utilities against the MASTER copy.
  2. Then run eseutil /P to repair the database which will put it into a consistent state
  3. Once the /P is completed you will be able to mount the DB, however I would recommend that you also do one or both of the steps below

A: Run ESEUTIL /D to defragment the DB which will in essence build a new DB

B:  Once its up and running you should create a NEW database and Move all Mailboxes into that new database since once a DB is corrupt where you need to run a repair i.e. /P you should move the mailboxes into a new clean DB and then destroy the old one

Hi,
We can run cmd "new-mailboxexportrequest" in EMS to export all the contents to a .pst file.
More details in the following article:
New-MailboxExportRequest
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607299(v=exchg.150).aspx

We can also check the application event log.
Please verify whether the event log id is 9175,486,455,413 or 5, when you cannot remount the database.
I found an article about these event logs.
For your reference:
The Exchange database store may not mount in Exchange Server, and event IDs 9175, 486, 455, 413, and 5 may be logged

Hope it is helpful.

Thanks
Mavis
