Exchange 2013 - no access to public folder with Outlook anywhere

Hi together,

help is needed:

2 Exchange Server 2013 CU7: public folder are not visible when connecting with outlook anywhere.

Outlook Anywhere itself works fine! mail enabled public folder are also visible with OWA.

The public folder mailbox default mail has an externally available mail address space (autodiscover is fine).

The outlook clients are all later than SP1 so an outlook error should not be in place.

Looking at the Outlook client i haven't any connection with type "public folder". Only Exchange Mail connections.

Also testing autodiscover does not write ANY information about public folder....

Because there are NO internal clients I cannot test internally.

Don't know how to proceed... Somebody else?

Hi Gernot,

I recommend you refer to the following thread and it may give you some hints:

Exchange 2013 and public folders via Outlook Anywhere not visible

Solution :

It looks like there was a missing external autodisover dns cname entry missing, so external lookups to autodiscover.domain.com failed. Adding this in fixed the issue.

Hi Niko,

thanks for answer. But autodiscover.mail.Domain is externally available.

Otherwise the Outlook connect to the Mailbox itself wouldn't work, isn't it?!But I expect, that this is a Problem with the local certificate on the CAS Server because also an internal Outlook connect went wrong!

It has really a problem of certificates!

Problem generally solved.

I have been too fast ;-(...

It now works sometimes (nearly 50% of the requests).

The other 50% get the following errormessage:

There is a problem with the certificate of the proxyserver.

The name of the certificate is not valid or is not the destination website of outlook.domain.de.

I have NO failover configuration. There is only one IP for all services.

I figured out that sometimes the owa rule is used. Other times the rule for outlook anywhere....
