Exchange 2013 - Custom NDR message for different aceppted domains.

Dear All,

Need your help and guidance to address the below requirements from one of our customer.

Customer is running Exchange 2013 SP1 environment, and they are having 5 accepted domains.

Example :            user@domain1.com   ( Primary SMTP Domain )

                           user@domain2.com

                           user@domain3.com

                           user@domain4.com

                           user@domain5.com

Now what is happening by default when the NDR goes from Exchange it is from ( Postmaster@domain1.com ) in all  above cases.

Customer requirement is -  when the email has been send to user@domain2.com   in such cases the NDR should go with the address containing the respective domain like Postmanter@Domain2.com and so forth for all other domains.

Could you please help us to understand how to achieve this request with Exchange natively.

Thanks,

ABUL

To my knowledge nothing native in Exchange will perform that function.

Hi ABUL,

Agree with Ed, there is no built-in function to achieve your requirement in Exchange, it is by design.

There are two ways that NDR messages can be generated with different sender:

If NDR generated and message rejected by the same server, the sender is postmaster@domain.com;

If NDR generated and message rejected by different servers, the sender is "Microsoft Exchange@domain.com"

However, it dose not depend on the accepted domain.
