Exchange 2010 won't uninstall - changed default IIS site, management console won't connect
After all was said and done, the exchange server was not working and I went to uninstall it. It blew up in my face. Here is what I am dealing with at this point. -The physical path in IIS has been changed -Exchange GUI Management Console cannot connect to the exchange server and is reporting "The WinRM client sent a request to an HTTP URL and got a response saying the requested HTTP was not available". -The powershell management cannot connect to the server -If I try and uninstall with Add/Remove programs I get an error saying there are mailboxes that I have to delete first -I can't get into the powershell to figure out which mailboxes need to be deleted, or where to delete them. I am looking for suggestions on how to remove exchange with all of this mess going on. Thanks

The easiest way is to simply flatten the machine, reset (NOT DELETE) the machine account, rebuild the machine. Then reinstall Exchange 2010 using the recoverserver switch. Once the reinstall is complete, remove it using add/remove programs, correcting any issues it reports before you do so. Then you can rebuild the machine again and reinstall Exchange correctly. I don't tend to leave machines that have been through recoverserver in production. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources
