Exchange 2010 transport rules not applying to intended users

Hi Experts,

Need your help in applying a transport rule. The rule is applied on our Exchange 2010. I know the rule is working as I've tested it on QA environment. The issue is that, the sender which the rule will be applied to is coming from a different site and running on Exchange 2007.

Site EXCH version

sender@domain.com site1 Exch2007

recipient@domain.com site2 Exch2010

We have a direct route coming from 2007 HT to 2010 HT and confirmed that the emails are sent on that way.

I've already searched for transport rule docs and found that 2007 and 2010 rules have different container in AD. But from what I know, Transport rules are applied on the whole exchange org. Are we missing something to make the rule work or we need to add the same rule in 2007 to make it work?

Thanks,

R

Hi ,

Transport rules are organisational level configuration and also it is common for the all the recipients in exchange 2007 and exchange 2010 as well.

If you have any queries please let me know.

Hi,

How long did you wait for it to replicate transport rule from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2007?

Replication of transport rules across an organization depends on Active Directory replication. Replication time between Active Directory domain controllers varies depending on the number of sites in the organization, slow links, and other factors outside the control of Exchange. When you configure transport rules in your organization, make sure that you consider replication delays.

If this transport rule also doesnt work after waiting for a long time, please create the same transport rule in Exchange 2007 to check this issue.

Best Regards.

Hi All,

Thanks for your replies. The rule is almost in place for about 3 mos now. If that is the case, we may need to apply the same rule on 2007 server.

Thanks!
