Exchange 2010 setup error with exchange 2003 in domain
Ok, I am setting up a new server with Exchange 2010. The server is running 2008 R2 (x64). All hardware requirements are met. I have gone through the checklist completely. It says that if you use the setup wizard in Exchange 2010 with the correct permissions that it prepares active directory. I am using the Exchange deployment assistant and have followed all requirements and am installing each module seperately as it suggests. I have run BPA and the only warning is that we have a public folder on our Exchange 2003. When I run the install for the Client module per the Exchange delployment assistant I notice one thing, that the step 11 about mail flow settings page never appears. When install finishes I get this error: Error: The following error was generated when "$error.Clear(); if ( ($server -eq $null) -and ($RoleIsDatacenter -ne $true) ) { Update-RmsSharedIdentity -ServerName $RoleNetBIOSName } " was run: "RMS Shared Identity user FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042 not found.". RMS Shared Identity user FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042 not found. Help!!! Btw the mailbox install fix was to use ADSIEdit and remove mailbox as the first full attempt at install installed it. I have since rebuilt entire server, new name and now attempting to install exchange again. I did remove mailbox and now get error that it cant find....what the????

You may want to re-run setup /PrepareAD step specifically and go from there and see if that fixes things up. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125224.aspx Prepare Active Directory and Domains

No that did not work, it is still saying it cannot find FederatedMail...etc, install cancelled Is there a way to manually create "FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042" in layman terms if there is a way Here is the whole story and I know we screwed up. We introduced a 2008 r2 server into our domain. We promoted it to a DC, then we introduced the server for exchange, again a 2008R2 and I began install of exchange 2010. We experienced some issues with DHCP and DNS on the DC and also got errors on first full install of exchange. I removed the exchange server from the domain(exchange would not uninstall). I rebuilt the 2008R2 for exchange (new name, etc), we resolved all of the other issues with the DC and then we bagan to have the problems I explained with exchange, I assume since Active Directory still saw the previous attempt at exchange install and because the FederatedMail was already installed but corrupt. The was an article to delete and recreate Federated mail, so I deleted but could not recreate because exhange was not installed. Now it will not install with error in first thread. When I try to do just a Client install it gives that error and when I try to do a full install (client, hub, transport with mgmt tools) I get the error as well. So here I am feeling like an idiot with my boss climbing down my throat. I hope someone has a solution so I might keep my job.....Thanks BOCHCO

Check in ADUC, the account "FederatedEmail" is disable or Enabled, if its enable than disable it and try again. If the above is not the case than, Delete the "FederatedEmail Account' and run Setup.com /preparead Gulab | Skype: gulab.mallah
