Exchange 2010 role deployment and contacting fsmo roles ruding setup
If you're installing Exch then it will need access to the Schema role, The prep is done, however if you're installing the mbx/hub/cas and it's moaning about the FSMO roles, then you need to allow it.Sukh

Hi Peter,
Please make sure you have at least one global catalog server in each Active Directory site where you plan to install Exchange 2010.
You can also post the detailed error message here when you install the Exchange 2010.

LS,
we have 1 datacenter where all the DC reside with all the FSMO roles on it.
an other AD site is created where we have to install Exchange 2010 SP1
The connection between datacenter and the AD site is protected with FW rules so that only those DC can communicatie.
Preparation of AD is already done for Exchange 2010.
When I install Exchange CAS/MBX i can't connect to domain controller which holds the FSMO roles (no access offcourse) Is it neccessary that i MUST have acces to those roles during Exchange setup of CAS/MBX role? (offcourse I can contact the other domain controller
in my site )
Regards
Peter

I dont remember the exact reason, but we used to move the FSMO role to a DC on the same site before starting the installation.
