Exchange 2010 on a DC, old DC's decomissioned, SACL showing an error

Hi,

Hope someone can help.

We've inherited an Exchange 2010 server, which is unfortunately installed on a DC.

We have decommissioned our old 2003 DC's and put in 2 new Server 2012 DC's at this site.

Exchange is now complaining  :

Log Name:      Application
Source:        MSExchange SACL Watcher
Date:          26/06/2015 16:33:43
Event ID:      6003
Task Category: General
Level:         Error
Keywords:      Classic
User:          N/A
Computer:      EXCHANGE.DOMAIN.COM
Description:
SACL Watcher servicelet encountered an error while monitoring SACL change.
Got error 1722 opening group policy on system DC1.domain.com in domain domain

I have investigated and run the following command : Get-ADServerSettings, however, no servers (none) are listed here.

I believe a re-start of the Exchange server is a good first thing to try, which I will do, however, if this does not yield any results, what do you think I should set the preferred DC to.  Itself or to one of the new DC's?

What issues could I be running into either way?

Thanks very much

Did you decommission the DC on which Exchange was running?  If so, that's your problem.  It is not supported to promote or demote an Exchange server.  The fix is to promot

Hi Seamonst,

Thank you for your question.

First of all, Microsoft dont suggest we install Exchange on DC, we could refer to the following link for reason:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms.exch.setupreadiness.warninginstallexchangerolesondomaincontroller(v=exchg.150).aspx

we could restart the service which is Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology , then use the command Get-ADServerSettings | FL to check if the DC was listed.

If there are any issues after the Exchange server restart, welcome to our forum and we will give a better solution for you.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim
