Exchange 2010 move file share witness from one server to another
We have a 2 node DAG connecting to a FSW file share on a member server. I am replacing the FSW hardware box with another one. I want to move the file share witness in Exchange to the new server. I see in the Database Availability Groups in Exchange Console under the Mailbox option where the name of the server is with the DAG and the member servers. It looks editable. Could I change the server in this spot to point to the new server name? I have already created a folder called the same on the new server. Otherwise, do I have to use the shell to make this change? Seems like I should be able to do this in the Console from this screen. If not, what is the command shell prompt for moving the FSW from one server to another. The path will be the same of course, and in reality, the only thing that is changing is the name of the new server is incrementing one digit (server01 to server02). Just wanting to see if anyone else has done this before as I'm leary of doing this and email going down obviously. :)

Yes, you can change the FSW anytime as others have mentioned. Be aware of one cosmetic issue however: http://blogs.technet.com/b/timmcmic/archive/2010/07/13/exchange-2010-file-share-witness-oddities.aspx

I apologize for not getting back to anyone sooner, the technet forums at work haven't been working. I did this tonight with no issues. I only wanted to post what was obviously a EASY answer, because every place online you do a search for has you doing this with a shell command. Sorry I'm a GUI guy, it looked like you could edit the field and you can, but better to be sure, especially with my current company. :) Note for others that do this, you can do this at any time on the change, just make sure to have your permissions the same otherwise you'll get an error message about permissions on the file share witness folder.
