Exchange 2010 federation

Hi guys,
Im busy setting up a lab environment with two different ad forests and two different exchange organizations.
My goal is to setup federation between the exchange servers. Is there no other way to setup federation without using the microsoft federated gateway online? The reason for this is I dont want to create txt records and so forth, cause I think this will affect
the production exchange after testing when I use the same domain names etc.
Regards

Hi MrReeMan,

You could refer to below:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/7377.fim-2010-information-about-sharing-gals-and-freebusy-information-between-two-exchange-orgs.aspx

The FIM could do it.
