Exchange 2010 domain migration

Hi,

Regarding the following configuration, I wanted to know if Exchange server domain migration from a child domain to a parent domain would be supported or not (I know that for Exchange 2007 it is not supported).

The goal is to consolidate the infrastructure by migrating the servers from domain "123.abc.lan" to "abc.lan" by minimizing hardware purchase and administrative efforts.

abc.lan (no Exchange)

123.abc.lan (Exchange DAG to migrate to domain "abc.lan")

My guess is that it's not supported, but I would like to have an official answer.

Thanks in advance for your help

Your guess is correct!

Exchange does not support changing the domain membership, so NO...you can't move your Exchange Servers from your child domain to your forest root domain.

If you want to move your mailboxes to abc.lan, you need to install new servers in your forest root and move them over.
