Exchange 2010 design optimization
Hello Experts,I'm designing a Exchange 2010 for an enterprise. I've read up on the new features of 2010 and I'm interested if it is capable of the following:Let's say we have three locations LA, NY, and Datacenter. Can AD, Exchange 2010, and a DAG somehow be used to achieve it so that a user when in LA office gets his mail from Exchange server at LA office, but when he is at home gets his mail from the Datacenter Exchange and when visiting NY office he gets his mail from the Exchange NY office.Basically, is there a way to design it in a way to achieve it so that the CAS serves his mail from the closest geographic location? Thanks!

Is your bandwidth that poor?In theory you could always activate the database in the location he is at.

Is there a way to design it in a way to achieve it so that the CAS serves his mail from the closest geographic location? By default, client will use the CAS server that is closest to it. Or, you can set the site affinity to force it. Please see the “Configuring the Autodiscover Service to Use Site Affinity for Internal Communication” section in this white paper, which is also applied to exchange 2010 Resources: Configure the Autodiscover Service to Use Site AffinityJames Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
