Exchange 2010 and 2013 coexistence

Testing client connection. Using OWA and Outlook client to test.

Mailbox on Exhange 2010 vs Exchange 2013. Mailbox connected to 2013 are slower.

When using OWA to compare just by opening an email, the difference is noticeable (owa 2010 opens instantly and 2013 lags at least 2 seconds)

Within the outlook client, avp resp on 2010 is around 30 and when a mailbox is on 2013 the avg resp is around 120 and above.

Is this normal with 2013?

Is it safe to say avg resp below 200 is good?

Hi Andy,

Thank you for your question.

Did the issue occur when we open outlook at the first time?

Did the issue persist when we open outlook at every time?

The respond time depend on network traffic, Exchange performance(Exchange respond time include hardware performance, software, anti-virus program) and so on.

We think respond time of OWA is normal, because OWA of Exchange 2013 is better than Exchange 2010, for example separate OWA process, new monitor framework, workload management.

If the respond time of outlook is slower every time, we could contact network administrator to check if there are issue about network, then we could check Exchange performance and check if there are any event ids in application log. If the respond time of outlook is slower at the first time, it is normal, because it is loading some configured information and new emails(it also is regard to network environment).

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim
