Exchange 2010 Server, can send emails but cant receive them

Hi,

So i have a problem :/ i got this task to set up an exchange server and since i never done it before i dont know what could be wrong ill try to explain the problem to the best of my ability

So i set up a ADDC a local domain and connected another server (exchange server) to it.

I've forwarded the ports from the gateway and created some users in the server.

I can send emails locally and externally without any problems.

In outlook when i click the option Send/Receive it sends but holds on Receive, before i got an error (nothing specific) but now it just stays on 50% and doesnt move.

When i send an email from the external email client to my domain, i get a response error saying 516 ICIR16 - Unknown user.

I can receive the mails from the local domain, but the outlook send/receive option still holds on Downloading the mails.

I can provide any info needed just ask.. thank you all so much in advance and i hope someone will be able to help me resolve this pain of an issue :(

--edit1

i failed to mention that i am able to telnet to the mail.xxx.eu on port 25 and 110

Hi Shad,

If you use OWA, can you receive the mails from the local domain?

In addition, how did you configure your internet mail flow? Through an External SMTP gateway or Directly through a Hub Transport Server?

I recommend you refer to the following article to configure your internet mail flow correctly:

Configure Internet Mail Flow Through Exchange Hosted Services or an External SMTP Gateway

Configure Internet Mail Flow Directly Through a Hub Transport Server

Hi ,

In addition to Niko.Cheng suggestions .

Please use the exchange remote connectivity analyzer tool and do an inbound email test for any one of your valid recipient mailbox and share us the results.
