Exchange 2010 SP1 now , Need SP2 ASAP
Exchange 2010 SP1 in production now. I get two versions of the steps needed to prepare for SP2. From different consultants. Version 1). update the schema and then apply SP2 onto server roles Version 2). update the schema and then you must also update Legacy Exchange permissions and update all Domains before applying SP2. So is Version 1 really all that's requried? setup /ps then apply SP2 onto server roles.Messaging

The correct answer is: 1. /PrepareSchema 2. /PrepareAD 3. /PrepareDomain (or /PrepareAllDomains if you have more than one) 4. Apply to CAS servers. 5. Apply to Hub Transport servers 6. Apply to mailbox servers. If you have rights (Enterprise Admin and Schema Admin), all you should have to do is install SP2 on a server and it'll automatically apply all the schema, AD and domain updates first. You'd still need to update any extra domains manually, though. So, Version 1 is right depending on the rights you have. Version 2 is wrong. There is no legacy Exchange permissions step in this case.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."
