Exchange 2010 SP1 Unified Messaging unable to call in from the outside to check messages
After updating our Exchange 2010 to SP1 we just discovered that when we call in from an external number we are unable to check messages weather we dial the UM Dial Plan # or directly to the
extension. When you try and key in the pin code it just sits there and a few seconds later says “are you still there”. If we do this internally using only the 4 digit extension it does work but if we do it internally and use the 7 digit
number it doesn’t.
From the issues I'm seeing it would appear to be an issue with our Cisco Phone system but the only thing that has changed since this broke is SP1. Are there changes
to my Cisco Call Manager that needed to be modified because of the SP1 install?

What version of CUCM are you running? We are running 7.1.3 against 2010 SP1 and not having this issue, I've heard in the past of people on 7.0 having some issues, but can't remember of the top of my head what they were.

Hello,
Got some feedback from our UM team and this is it in a nutshell:
- We will likely need a network monitor trace from the UM server to determine what is causing this
- It is possible that the Cisco phone system is supplying in-band DTMF tones rather than out of band
- UM does not support in-band DTMF tones and would not see any keys being pressed
Hope this helps.
