Exchange 2010 SP1 Personal Archiving Sizing
Does Microsoft have any guidance concerning implementing personal archiving databases on midline storage? The current calculator does not provide the capability to calculate archive storage on a separate database or server. I am trying to determine the following: Ballpark I/O requirements for a user accessing the personal archive in which a default retention policy is moving data older than three months to their personal archive Log replication requirements: It doesn't seem feesible that the archive is sized based on a 100 messages a day user where the archive will not be receiving and sending e-mail through the course of the day, but actually having minimal user access and when the policy fires to move e-mail from the primary mailbox I would be interested in any comments concerning sizing the storage for capacity and performance with regards to a personal archive on midline storage and also determining log replicaiton requirements if including the archives within a DAG.

A personal archive is an additional mailbox that's enabled for a mailbox user so Total number of mailbox = actual mailboxes + no of mailboxes with personal archive and you use this numer to calculate storage requirements use information here .. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff367907.aspx and http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee832790.aspx Dhruv
