Exchange 2010 SP1 Import PST issue
What you are experiencing is a known issue with legacy exchange data, i.e. there are some legacy ANSI data types that cause Exchange 2010 to puke, i.e. the CAS service will stop and start which causes all users to disconnect and the import fails as well. Microsoft has been attempting to overcome all of these issues with SP1 RU1, RU2, RU3 and RU4. I would suggest that you first ensure that you upgrade all your exchange servers to at least SP1 RU2 and try again. Of you are NOT running a BES server I would do RU3 as well, however if you are running a BES server you need to update your BES server with specific patches as well. RU4 was recently pulled back http://exchangeserverpro.com/issues-copying-public-folders-installing-update-rollup-4-exchange-2010-sp1 for causing some very bad things to happen so I would avoid that one even after they release it again until they sort it out If that doesn't solve the issue then you may want to look into utilizing Lucid8's DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp to import the data into 2010 since it can detect the items that cause this issue with 2010 and correct them on the fly. If you happen to have the offline EDB where the PST's were generated from DigiScope can open it and do direct offline EDB to production server data imports as well Troy Werelius www.Lucid8.com Search, Recover, & Extract Mailboxes, Folders, & Email Items from Offline EDB's and Live Exchange Servers with Lucid8's DigiScope

Hi there I am having problems with a few PST when trying import them into Exchange 2010 SP1 server. I use the Get-MailImportRequest -Filepath XXX -Mailbox XXX -IsArchive. All the Role Memebership and permissions are set correctly. Issue is that the RPC service seems to repetedly restart as if its recovering from a failure, this affects users that are connected to that server. See the logs below, first entry right at the bottom. Hi Stephane, Please try to remove all import requests first: Get-MailboxImportRequest | Remove-MailboxImportRequest After that, please try to import .pst to Exchange server one by one(suggest you import a small pst file first). For example: New-MailboxImportRequest -Mailbox Kweku -IsArchive -FilePath \\SERVER01\PSTFiles\Archives\Kweku\Archive2007.pst New-MailboxImportRequest http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607310.aspx Frank Wang Forum Support Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help.
