Exchange 2010 SP1 - Server Reboots and Microsoft Exchange Information Store timesout
New Exchange 2010 SP1 Install, Co-exists with Exchange 2007 Server 4 Databases 158 Users between 3 Mailbox DBs 1 Public Folder DB 30 GB of Mail Data 4 GB of Mail Log Data Roles: CAS, HT, MailBox DB This has happened twice now, the 8th and the 11th The server for some reason reboots. 8th was at 12:17 AM, the 11th was at 10:32PM. The Logs from the 11th overwrote the logs from the 8th, so I don’t have all of the data from then (I’ve increased the log from 20 to 40 megs). The Log on the 11th shows that the machine rebooted just after the Backup Finished. When the machine comes back up I received the Following two events each time. Log Name: System Source: Service Control Manager Date: 7/8/2011 12:20:18 AM Event ID: 7009 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Exch2010 Description: A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service to connect. Log Name: System Source: Service Control Manager Date: 7/8/2011 12:20:18 AM Event ID: 7000 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Exch2010 Description: The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. Then the rest of the services start and only leaving the Information Store stopped. Unfortunately I do not have entries from the Application log that go back to the 11th at 10:30pm, so I can’t see what it logged. Is there another place it logs events related to the Information Store? How do I troubleshoot the reboots and the Information Store not starting. Thanks! Scott<-

Did the server reboot because you have Automatic Updates configured that way? Sometimes the IS won't start when you reboot, I've seen that. Does the service start afterward? If so, then you could add a delay to the service startup.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Hi Scott., Any update for your issue? Could you please post some information about the reboot? Per your description, the reboot occur after the backup, sounds odd. Did you check the backup software configuration? Regards!
