Exchange 2010 Routing Mail for Specific Hub Transport

Hi all,

We currently have an Exchange organization 2010 with the following roles:
2 Mailbox servers that are part of a DAG
2 CAS / HUT servers configured with Microsoft NLB

We have recently added a new Hub Transport server which is intended to be used only for sending mass mailings from one of the hosted databases in the DAG.

The rest of the corporate emails must maintain the normal flow using the 2 Hub Transport servers that are configured with the NLB.

What is the best way to tell Exchange 2010 that a database should send mail through a specific Hub Transport?

Is this possible?

I found this link but refers to the Mailbox Servers, not the database.

I appreciate any suggestions.

Best regards,

There is no default option to route emails based on specific sender or group. We do have some 3rd part tools to achieve this like ExSBR or http://ivasoft.com/routebysender.shtml

The only way I can think of doing this is to locate a Mailbox+Hub+CAS role server in a separate subnet with a DC, add it to the DAG and ensure that the mailbox database is mounted on that server.

Hi Manuel,

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry that we could not route email to the specific Hub server for the specific database by default.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim

Hi Jim,

We ran the command to restrict the Hub Transport server and its working.

Set-MailboxServer Identity MailServer.domain.com SubmissionServerOverrideList Hub_one.domain.com, Hub_two.domain.com

But I have another issue:

We have 1 send connector (Send to Internet 1) where the NLB Hub Transport are configured as source servers, we created a new send connector (Send to Internet 2) and we configured the new Hub Transport as source server, but the new Hub Transport is trying to send email using the Send to Internet 1 and because is not configured as source in that connector, all the email are holding on a Queue.

I will appreciate any advice about how to configure it.

Best regards,

Manuel

Hi manuekg,

In order to avoid confusion and keep track of troubleshooting steps, we usually troubleshoot one issue per thread in order to find a resolution efficiently. Concerning your other question, I suggest we create a new case.

Best Regard,

Jim
